Lincoln 2 – 1 Burton Alb

Jack Moylan scored twice as Lincoln edged Burton 2-1 to close the gap to League One leaders Cardiff to three points.

Jake Beesley quickly cancelled out Moylan’s 35th-minute opener, but the Irishman struck again after 55 minutes as the Imps ground out a victory.

Reeco Hackett should have fired the Imps ahead inside four minutes, but he thrashed his effort against the side netting.

Burton could then have gone ahead, but Beesley dithered on the ball with just George Wickens to beat and allowed Tom Hamer to clear.

Burton finally had a shot at goal after 29 minutes, but Dylan Williams’ deflected effort was easily gathered by Wickens, before Imps frontman Rob Street had a header clawed away by goalkeeper Bradley Collins.

Moylan then created the opener out of nothing. Surging towards the visitors’ box, he let fly from 25 yards and his low shot found the net via Collins’ left-hand post.

Inside two minutes, Burton were level. Jack Armer’s left-wing cross was allowed to cross the six-yard box and an unmarked Beesley tapped into the net from close range.

But 10 minutes after the break, Moylan fired in what proved to be the winner as the playmaker slotted home after Collins spilled Freddie Draper’s shot.
